EARTH- Earth is the third planet from the Sun.
- It is the fifth largest planet in the solar system.
- The surface of the earth is covered with 29% land and 71% water.
- There are different gases in the earth's atmosphere.
- They are Nitrogen,Oxygen, Argon, Carbon dioxide and Trace amounts of neon, helium, methane, krypton and hydrogen, as well as water vapour.
- The layers of the earth are crust, mantle and core.
- Our planet's official scientific name is “Terra”.
- Earth is tilted by approximately 23°.
- There would be no seasons if the earth is not tilted.
- Earth rotates at a speed of 1000 miles/hour.
- Earth revolves around the sun at 67,000 miles/hour.
- The shape of the earth is round said by Galileo and Greek scholar Pythagoras but even before that Aryabhata clearly wrote in his book about the shape of the earth.
- Moon is the earth's natural satellite.
- Earth is protected by ozone layer from harmful UV radiation of sun. Ozone layer is nothing but ozone(o3) gas.
- 90% of the world's ice is present in Antarctica. when all the ice in Antarctica melts then the sea levels would rise by 70 metres.
- Earth is a powerful magnet.
